Ahh saying today was rough for me is an understatement! We took a cable car all the way up to the top of Table Mountain (1000 meters.. very, VERY steep/rocky), which was great, and then we started our journey down. As you all know, I hate camping and doing a ton outdoors, and am definitely a typical city girl, so you can only imagine how intimidating this mountain looked! I broke down crying a few times, not going to lie, because of my fear of heights, and because my legs kept giving out. Instead of taking the cable car down, I fought through the pain in my legs, and my fears and made it to the bottom. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my friends on the trip and Corvell! They helped me all the way down, showed me where to step, gave me water... I’m so thankful to have such amazing people on this trip with me. It was scary because it got dark when we were a little more than halfway down, so we had one person with a flashlight showing me which rocks to step on, and another was guiding me, pretty much keeping me on my feet, the rest of the way down. I have never experienced this jelly-feeling in my legs as bad as today! When I got home, another friend, who played softball for MSU, gave me some powder to put in water that’s full of electrolytes. So far my legs are feeling tired, but not terrible… however, the true test will be tomorrow morning when I try and make it out of my bed! As difficult, and as long as it took me to make it down to the bottom, I’m very proud of myself for facing my fears and sticking it through. Now I can tell everyone I hiked all the way down Table Mountain!
Good for you, Michelle, facing your fears and conquering them!
